Golf Club Kynžvart

In a region devoted to harmony, peace and relaxation, there is a golf course that received rating in 2010 and will definitely rank among the most beautiful. False modesty is not fitting here as Kynžvart golf course has real potential to hold a prominent place among Czech and Moravian courses. Judge for yourself.

The first part of the course is situated in a magnificent castle park from the 19th century. During your play you walk round the castle, among stately trees, passing romantic buildings, fountains, brooks and waterfalls. The second part offers breath-taking views of the Bohemian Forest, the Slavkov Forest and far towards Cheb. Unlike many other golf courses, Kynžvart was not built on a dump, field or barren ground, but amidst nature cultivated by humans. The Kynžvart Castle Park is one of the largest and most valuable parks in the country, and a strictly protected heritage. This implies that the course had to be constructed with minute care and sensitivity to be in a perferct harmony with such culturally valuable landscape.

In Kynžvart you play exclusively amid the tranquility of nature, never disturbed by urban bustle, the noise of road traffic or the view of ugly buildings. The course is locate at the foot of the mysterious Slavkov Foreste, one of the cleanest regions of the Czech Republic.

But it's not all about nature ‒ there is also the noble castle Kynžvart, which used to be the home of one of the greatest politicians of his time: Klemens Wenzel Nepomuk Lother, Count Metternich-Winneburg-Ochsenhausen, Duke of Portella. During your play on our modern course you will always feel the spirit of the time when Metternich's castle was the chessboard of Europe. Once the fate of nations decided here, now it will be your golf score.

And this requires Metternich's strength of character as the course is one of the most challenging in the country. Measuring 6,016 metres from yellow tees and with slope rating of 146, it is the most difficult course in the Czech Republic, more difficult than Old Course in Čeladná. However, it is difficult for professionals too, masuring 6,620 metres from black tees and with slope rating of 153. Let's add that the maximum slope rating of155 is reached by only a few courses across the world. Despite its challenging nature, the course is friendly, without unnecessary traps or extremes. The fairways are long, but also wide, and the course is modelled organically. Playing here requires particular precision and discretion. And the quiet natural environment is the right context for for that.

Before you go for a round, you can hone your skills on the local driving range, one of the largest in the country. Of course, chipping and putting greens are available too.

And if you still feel a craving for urban life, you can visit nearby Marienbad ‒"ideal city in a nutshell" ‒ the ancient Cheb or the wordly Carlsbad.
