Our Carlsbad region is the smallest in the Czech Republic, but as far as golf is concerned it is a promised land for greens. There are nine other courses in the region, plus one just round the corner – or, more precisely, just across the frontier – in Germany. After you've thoroughly enjoyed playing in Kynžvart you can, just for the sake of change, make a trip to one of the neighbouring courses. Then you can come back and compare.

ASTORIA GOLF RESORT CIHELNY - 36km

The modern and technically-challenging par 70 course in the beautiful valley of the Teplá was designed by the famous Gary Player Design Company. This resort can be accessed in style by train. It is located on the line between Marienbad and Carlsbad, and the stop is only 200 metres away from the clubhouse!

ROYAL GOLF CLUB MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ - 15km

Located on a plateau above Marienband, the course was opened by the British king Edward VII in 1905. Together with the clubhouse, the course is a real open-air golf museum, in the best sense of the world. Every player will be challenged by fairways amidst full-grown trees and small greens. Marienbad's venerable golf resort can be characterized by a single word: refinement.

GOLF RESORT FRANTIŠKOVY LÁZNĚ - 36km

This new, athletic and quiet course in Hazlov, a municipality near Franzensbad, has been established in the midst of a pleasing, rolling landscape. Judging by its philosophy, services and clients, it is a rather German resort. The safety of golfers is enhanced here by a TV screen showing a stretch of fairway in front of you which is otherwise blocked from view by a mound.

GOLF RESORT KARLOVY VARY - 48km

This varied and mature course, found at 600m on a hill over Carlsbad in the direction of Prague, belongs to the Czech golf course elite. The course dates back to the 1930s and was completely refurbished after 1989. Here grass alternates with forest.

GOLF SOKOLOV - 28km

The 18-hole course was build as a part of the reclamation of a moonscape of industrial dumps and testifies to the positive aesthetic impact of golf on the landscape. The course lends an impressive view of both the Ore Mountains and the Slavkov Forest, along with the neighbouring power plants and concrete housing estates.

GOLFCLUB STIFTLAND, NEUALBENREUTH - 42km

Neualbenreuth offers an 18-hole course in a hilly countryside just across the Bavarian border. The shortest way there is via Broumov. You don't have to book your tee-time in advance, just come and play. There is an excellent restaurant at the course and the Sibyllenbad Spa with thermal water is just outside the village.
